Case Study: "Tatort - Gier und Angst"

Roman Russo talks about the TV production "Tatort Dortmund - Gier und Angst" where he operated as Green Consultant. The production won the German Eisvogel award in 2022.

In addition to implementing a variety of measures to reduce environmental pollution during transport, catering and accomodation, they particularly implemented an innovative and energy-saving lighting concept. This way, the use of energy on set could be reduced by around 80%. The measures have also led to greater attentiveness to environmental aspects and intensive cooperation within the crew.

Case Studies: Go Green with a small budget
"Tower. A Bright Day", "Lipstick on the Glass" and "The Moths"

It does not matter whether you operate a micro-budget or run a production for several million euros. The introduction of sustainable film production solutions is always possible and should be a priority given the progressive degradation of nature and the impending climate disaster.

In chapter Best Practice, Polish producer Paweł Kosuń will tell you about his first green film "Tower. A Bright Day" from 2017. Without knowing anything specific about green shooting he had implemented several aspects of it during the course of the production.

The second film he will tell you about is the large international co-production "Lipstick on the Glass" dir. Kuba Czekaj. Here the focus is mainly on how to do the best you can even when everything it is a big challenge. Paweł will tell you how to manage resources and what is the best way to allocate funds so that green production is not only not more expensive than conventional, but also reduces its costs.

The third film is the micro-budget film of the European Film Award nominee Piotr Stasik - "The Moths", developed at the Biennale College Cinema in Venice. We will discuss practical solutions for green production, from working on the script, through choosing a location, to post-production. Everything under the slogan "Go green with a small budget".
